Notre Dame Football Unveils 125th Anniversary Logo

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish college football team unveiled their 125th anniversary logo on a “coming soon” website set up to celebrate the anniversary season.

Not much is known yet about the logo but according to Jim Small’s Notre Dame blog the decal will be worn on the helmets or uniforms in the upcoming season – although that’s likely just speculation at this point.

 

New Logo for Triple-A Baseball Championship

The 2012 logo for the annual championship game between the winners of Triple-A Baseball’s International League and Pacific Coast League has been unveiled.

This year’s edition depicts a bull to symbolize the host team, the International League’s Durham Bulls.  The logo was created by a designer of many of the Bulls anniversary and other special promotion logos Chris Henwood.

Also new for 2012 is the title sponsor of the game Gildan, the official title of the championship game is thus the 2012 Gildan Triple-A Baseball National Championship Game.

Toronto Raptors debut Camouflage Uniforms

The NBA’s Toronto Raptors became the first team in league history to sport camouflaged uniforms on Wednesday night in their “Canadian Armed Forces Tribute” game against the Chicago Bulls.

You can see the a photo gallery full of photos from this game, including the military tribute pre-game gear the club also wore over at ESPN’s game gallery.

 

UND Fighting Sioux players say jersey-gate is no distraction

The coach and players of the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux insist their interesting predicament is no distraction at all entering their weekend hockey tournament.

The Fighting Sioux have been banned by the NCAA from referring to themselves as such, as well as from using any logos featuring Native American imagery anywhere (uniforms, programs, the band, cheerleaders), all the while the State of North Dakota has enacted a law forbidding the school from using any name OTHER than the Fighting Sioux.

The result is generic “UND” or “North Dakota” uniforms and program references from here on out.

Crows Unis Crave “Yankee-Pinstripe” Status

Brenton Sanderson, new head coach of the Australian Football League’s Adelaide Crows wants to change his team’s style of play so drastically that it’ll change the way you perceive the club’s rainbow lollipop hooped uniforms.

“When you see the Crows jumper, what do you think  … what do you see?” said Sanderson, “We want to change perceptions as players and a club. And the jumper is the heart and soul of your club.”
