A look at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game Jerseys

With the 2012 Major League Baseball All-Star Game just two short months away, we’re getting our first look at the jerseys the American and National League players will be wearing during the Home Run Derby, workout day and batting practice leading up to the big game itself.

The 2012 edition of the mid-summer classic will be played at Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium, and as the custom has been in recent years the league jerseys are patterned after the look of the host team, this year being the Kansas City Royals.

The American League players will be wearing Kansas City Royals powder blue (also known as “Atlantic Blue”), with a white collar and under-arm striping.  The script “AMERICAN” is arched across the front in white and grey bevelled letters with a crown on the “A”, and a gold star dotting the “I”.

The National League players will be wearing royal blue jerseys with “Yankee Gray” collars (that’s what the spec sheet says, seriously) and under-arm striping.  Just like the AL jerseys, the NL uniform will feature the same front-lettering elements only with “NATIONAL” across the front.

Both teams will wear the All-Star Game patch on their left sleeve and have a Royal Blue/White/Gold MLB silhouette logo on the back collar.

New in 2011 and carrying over into 2012 is a pattern being incorporated into the player numbers on the back of the uniforms.  The pattern for this years game features a montage of various baseball imagery associated with this years all-star game. Kansas City Royals “KC” cap logos, crowns and stars with streaks behind, baseball players, the ASG 2012 wordmark logo.  It’s all in there.  See below for a close-up detail of the pattern on these numbers:

As always, players are expected to wear their regular home and road uniforms for the actual game.

The 2012 MLB All-Star Game will be played on July 10th, the home run derby – where most fans will see these uniforms in action – will take place the night before on July 9th.
