Syracuse Crunch to Unveil New Logo July 2nd

The Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League are entering into a new affiliation agreement with the Tampa Bay Lightning starting in 2012/13; to celebrate that new agreement the club will unveil a new logo and colours this coming Monday.

The news was announced via a Tweet by the Crunch Sr. Director of Player Development Michael Folsom:

Syracuse had been affiliated with the Anaheim Ducks since the 2010 season, prior to that they had been affiliated with Vancouver and Columbus.

The Crunch have changed their logo and/or their colour scheme for every previous affiliation change in the past; the team went for a total re-brand when switching from Vancouver to Columbus in 2000, when switching to Anaheim in 2010 they simply changed their colours.

    Well, at least their new logo can't be any worse than the current one. :P But, seriously, with a name like the "Crunch", there is a very limited amount of creativity there. It's not exactly an easy name to come up for a logo with.

    Exactly! A frozen bowl of Crunch cereal with icicles and stuff and two crossed hockey sticks underneath the bowl. That is already an improvement. Their current logo is too lame for words.
