Leafs, Red Wings Unveil 2014 Winter Classic Jerseys

Written By:  •  Sunday, April 7, 2013

The National Hockey League unveiled the sweaters to be worn at the 2014 NHL Winter Classic and Alumni Showdown events taking place in Michigan over the New Year’s celebrations.

In the photo above, the jerseys being worn by the kids are the ones that will be worn by the NHLers in the Winter Classic on January 1st.  Both jerseys game were the same as the ones we had seen leaked on eBay back in February.  Those shown being worn by the alumni are, as you guessed, set for the alumni game on December 31st.

We’ll have more information later in the day as we wait to hear back from our reporters on the scene, but in the mean time here’s a video of the unveiling. Enjoy:

  • Delayed Penalty

The Leafs got it right by not using vintage white!

  • Love the red ”D” jersey !!!!!

  • Gmac

I always wondered what happened to the kid from “Problem Child” apparently he went into modelling Detroit Red Wings sweaters…

  • agege

Tired of these pseudo-vintage uniforms. The event should feature pre-1970 teams with authentic, pre-1970 uniform designs actually worn by those teams at that time.

    • Bill

Good creativity with the Winter Classic designs. I hope the Kings host an outdoor gameand wear their 1970s gold jerseys (no, not with the gold pants.) The visiting Ducks should wear their original jade and eggplant unis

    Love the color on color

  • love them!!!

  • SouthstanderRSM

I hope this comes to Denver in the future.

  • LA is about to also get an outdoor game. Probably take on Anaheim or San Jose. Kings in Lakers purple & gold, Ducks in eggplant green & purple, Sharks with the retro logo.

LA and Winter classic doesn’t really roll off the tongue properly for me. I think Denver should be next and have them wear the old Colorado Rockies jerseys. And would love to see them play Vancouver in their original jerseys. Minnesota, Washington and New York would also be better ideas for hosting the Winter Classic.

      • Colorado would be good but the team performance isn’t getting them a winter classic anytime soon. Might as well take advantage of 2 good SoCal teams while they can.

        • Aaron

True, but that didn’t stop Chicago from hosting it in 2009 and they were a lot worse before then.

  • Hello just wanted to give you a quick heads up. The words in your post seem to be
running off the screen in Safari. I’m not sure if this is a format issue or something to do with internet browser compatibility but I thought I’d post to
let you know. The design look great though!
Hope you get the problem solved soon. Kudos
