Blue Jays Pitcher in Jersey Mixup

The Toronto Blue Jays may be sporting a spiffy 5-3 record while wearing their blue alternates (compared to 0-3 in anything else) but that didn’t stop closer Casey Janssen from trying to go against the odds.

With his team up 3-1 in the 9th inning while wearing those blue alternates Janssen took to the bullpen wearing the standard road grey Blue Jays jersey to go through his warmups.

Someone with the Jays must have noticed the jersey error as shortly after Casey started his tosses a batboy was seen clutching a folded-up blue alternate jersey in the dugout.

Casey entered the game after the top of the 9th and headed to the mound wearing his proper blue alternate.

  • Jays have worn their alts almost every game this year, I’m starting to tire of them…and I am a big fan of alt jerseys

  • Matthew Schilling

Are you kidding? The Jays should always wear the blue!

If anything the gray is more tiring. Every team wears them while playing away!

  • I love the blue, but there should be more of a mix. The white and grey are more reminscent of the 1992-93 era jerseys which is what they were going for on the rebrand. They also wore blue alts back then but it was when the team lost their firepower

Teams wearing alternates are great. More often than not I vote for.

  • Such a neat little feature you have with the “jersey” scoreboard. Nice work.

Some years ago at an astros Sunday game, the astros wore their alt Sunday home reds. Craig Biggio, however, wore his away red alt throughout the game. It was pretty funny

I guess I am old school, but I think the Blue Jays should lose their grey jerseys on the road all together and go back to their powder blue uniforms. MNB needs to add some colour!

    MLB not MNB, sorry

I do like the dark royal blue jerseys a lot, but I think they wear them too often. Perhaps they could just wear them for afternoon games and Sunday games.
