Blue Jays Going Red for Canadian Military Tonight

Toronto Blue Jays Red BP Cap 2014

In honour of “Canadian Military Appreciation Day” the Toronto Blue Jays will don their new red, maple leaf batting practice caps for their game against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim tonight (Friday, May 9), the team confirmed to SportsLogos.Net in an email earlier today.

Here in Canada, today is being celebrated as a one-time remembrance day in honour of the Canadians who served during Canada’s 13-year mission in Afghanistan as part of the U.S. led “War on Terror”, which began in October 2001 and ended this past March.

This is the first time the Blue Jays have worn the red caps, introduced during the off-season as an “alternate batting practice” cap. They are expected to wear them again on July 1st for Canada Day and again for “Baseball Canada Day” on August 10.

No word on if the team will be breaking out their red jerseys for the game tonight, but you’d have to assume they will, this cap does not match any other uniform in the set.
