Houston Rockets Reveal New Secondary Logo

The Charlotte Hornets weren’t the only team to add to their identity today. The Houston Rockets also had a little bit of an unveiling today, though it was definitely on a much smaller scale than Charlotte’s.

Indeed, the unveiling was centered around a new secondary logo. The Rockets tweeted that it was a sneak peek of the new secondary logo, which means that there will probably be a more official unveiling of the new mark soon, but for now, here it is:

The new secondary logo stays very close to the primary logo’s motif. Just as part of the primary logo is shaped like a rocket ship, it’s the same in this secondary logo, with “rocket ships” forming part of the H, which obviously stands for Houston. The H is completed with a streak that is coming from the R, which is also formed in part with another rocket. There are subtle rockets everywhere in this logo, which is consistent with the subtle rockets that were already in the primary logo.

There’s no word yet on how this new logo would be utilized, but if I had to guess, we’ll probably see it somewhere on the court or maybe on the uniforms like on the back of the neck, or on the rear waistline, or maybe down the sides of the shorts. That’s just speculation though.

What do you think of the new logo? Think it’s a good fit for the Rockets’ identity? How do you think they’ll utilize it?
