Defending EPL Champions Manchester City Reveal 2014/15 Kit

A couple of days after Manchester United revealed their new shirts (with a new sponsor) for 2014-15, the blue side of Manchester has followed suit. The defending champions of the English Premier League have come out with a new primary kit for 2014-15, and although the shirt is extremely similar to their 2013-14 getup, the shorts are where the big changes lie.

The shirt itself is simple, which is what you’d expect from a club that’s been outfitted by Umbro/Nike since the 2009-10 season. Navy blue has a much bigger presence on the shirt than on last year’s shirt, and white has been completely eliminated from the shirt outside of the crest (which is still inside of a badge as it was in last year’s shirt).

Of course, the big change here is the shorts, as City have gone back to sky blue shorts for the first time since their last EPL title-winning season in 2011-12. Although MCFC wore sky blue from head to toe for a long stretch through the late ’70s and early ’80s, it’s become increasingly rare since then, and this will be only the 3rd season in which City have worn sky blue from top to bottom.

In addition, Manchester City will be wearing a gold version of the EPL’s patch for the entire season, as is customary for the defending champions.

So, what do you think? Will the defending English champions look good during their title defense, or was this a bit of a slip-up?
