New Logo for the Prince George Cougars?

Prince George Cougars New Logo

The owners of the Western Hockey League’s Prince George Cougars have a new trademarked logo featuring a cougar graphic we’ve yet to see before.

Filed with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office in April 2015 (application number 1722295), the logo shows a “C” with a cougar head formed in the negative space of the letter. There is no colour information available in the registration.

Prince George Cougars Logo History

The purposes of the logo is described in the registration as “providing of entertainment and amusement through the medium of hockey games; the organization of administration of a hockey club”. Seems pretty legit.

The junior hockey club faced the threat of re-location from Prince George for most of the past half-decade until a new local owner swooped in and purchased the club last May. The Cougars have played in the northern British Columbia town since 1994, the team had inherited their identity from the relocated Victoria Cougars.
