Although the Texas A&M Aggies are an adidas school, they’ve still become the latest school in the college football to hop on the “Black for Black’s Sake” alternate train.
TAMU officially unveiled their “Aggie Nights” uniform this morning, and they’ll be wearing the monochrome-black uniform for their Halloween night contest against the South Carolina Gamecocks. Here’s an excerpt from their press release:
Centered around an all-black theme for Halloween, the Aggie Nights Primeknit alternate uniform features Texas A&M’s “Lone Star Logo” clear-coated seamlessly into the black satin finish of a HydroSkin® helmet from Hydro Graphics Inc. (HGI). This innovative helmet features all-new reflective technology to light up the night. The black jersey and pants are highlighted with silver metallic numbers and stripes with carbon-fiber detailing, while the “Texas A&M” moniker is featured in metallic maroon lettering with carbon-fiber detailing across the chest. Additionally, the Lone Star Logo is also incorporated into the pant stripes, creating a cohesive signature look.
If what they’re saying about the helmet is legit, then that lid is going to look pretty interesting under the lights of the newly-renovated Kyle Field. The paint finish is probably the most interesting thing about the helmet, in my opinion. As a matter of fact, this is actually a bit of a boring look as far as blackout uniforms are concerned.
This is actually A&M’s second foray into black from head-to-toe, as they went all-black to counteract Mississippi State’s Snow Bowl tribute uniforms back in 2012. Personally, I think they did a better job with this uniform. Granted, they both aren’t exactly attractive uniforms, but this is the better-looking of the two.
But that’s enough about what I think. What do you guys think? Are you a fan of the new Texas A&M Aggie Nights uniforms, or do you think that they should’ve just updated the 2012 black uniform design? Let us know what you think!
