All MLB Teams Wear Waving Flag Patches for 9-11

9-11 2015

For their annual tribute to the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks all thirty Major League Baseball teams will wear a patch on their caps tonight.

The patch is similar to what had been worn on the 11th since 2011 however the flag is now shown waving rather than stationary:

Major League clubs first paid respects to the 9-11 attacks in the weeks following them in 2001 up until the end of the World Series that year with a simple patch showing a U.S. flag, they continued to do this on the 11th every season through 2007. In 2008 clubs started wearing stars-and-stripes inspired designs for Memorial Day, Independence Day, and September 11th through 2010. For the 10th anniversary of the attacks in 2011 the clubs reverted back to the simple flag patch from 2001.
