Hartford Yard Goats Unveil Uniforms

Minor league baseball’s brand new Hartford Yard Goats may have gone full wacky with their logo and nickname, but their new uniforms, just unveiled today, have a definite classic feeling. Traditional home whites and road grays feature the Yard Goats word marks, which echo type taken from the logo for the local railroad. The Sunday jersey is a two-tone blue-and-white with the cap logo featured on the chest. A solid blue BP jersey will be accompanied by a YG script cap.

The logos, which we wrote about back in July, are blue and green, an obvious wink and a nod to the still-beloved Hartford Whalers.

The unveiling featured all of the glitterati you could hope for at a minor league uniform unveiling, from baseball royalty Doug Glanville with mascots Chew Chew and Chompers…

…to NBC Connecticut traffic reporter Heidi Voight.

Of course, not everyone has been swayed by the team’s identity, so perhaps these classic uniforms will help bring the naysayers around.

This is a good effort by a team that’s sure to be a branding success, between its fun nickname, attractive brand, and as of today, solid baseball uniforms in the classic tradition of the sport.
