Toronto Blue Jays Release 2016 Canada Day Uniform

Jays Canada Day

The Toronto Blue Jays are going back to an all-red look for Canada Day this year.

After trying a white jersey last year, the Jays will return to red when they take the field for their annual Canada Day game on July 1st – this year their opponents will be the Cleveland Indians.

The jersey features the team name arched across in white the standard team font, the logo in the lower left per usual. White piping is new, down the front of the jersey on either side of the buttons, around the collar, and on each sleeve, a single Canadian flag on the one. Like last year, the back of the jersey will have the players name, the team stopped putting “CANADA” on all the jerseys after 2014.

According to the Blue Jays official team shop, the red maple leaf batting practice cap will be worn with the jersey while their “Stars and Stripes” cap (which features a very pro-Canada design itself) will be reserved for the 4th of July, as inappropriate as that may seem.

This will be the first Jays Canada Day jersey to have the front piping since 2002 which ended a string of three consecutive games with piping. Twitter user @martyn_bailey with this great retrospect graphic here:
