Leafs Prospect Honours Felix Potvin With New Mask

Despite a new logo and a new uniform, fans of both the Toronto Maple Leafs and their American Hockey League farm club, the Toronto Marlies, will see something familiar between the pipes next season.

Antoine Bibeau, goaltender for the Marlies, today announced he’ll be wearing a goalie mask painted in tribute of former Leafs netminder Felix Potvin. “The Cat”, played for the Leafs from 1991-92 through 1998-99, and helped lead the team to their best seasons in a generation during their deep playoff runs in 1993 and 1994.

The mask, painted by airbrush artist Sylvie Poitras, also features depictions of Potvin on either side of the mask (even including the Stanley Cup 100th anniversary patch from 1992-93, nice touch!), as well as silhouettes of the Leafs logo used during Potvin’s time with the team.

Toronto’s new logo isn’t completely forgotten on the design, Poitras also included the team’s 100th anniversary logo.
