Philadelphia Flyers Unveil Golden 50th Season Jersey

Flyers New Jersey

A golden way to celebrate a golden season.

The Philadelphia Flyers this afternoon unveiled their special alternate 50th season jersey at a press event and via a video on their official website.

Using white as it’s base colour, something you rarely see in an alternate/commemorative jersey these days, the uniform features the classic Flyers logo on its chest but now with a touch of gold around it (similar, perhaps, to Team Canada’s uniforms).

The jersey features an orange shoulder yoke, and black and orange stripes on the arms and around the waist, the player numbers are gold with black trim as well as the captain/alternate patch. On the black the name is white on a black nameplate.

Inside the collar is “EST. 1967” to indicate the year Philadelphia joined the National Hockey League as part of the great expansion. They were known as one of the “Next Six”, the Flyers are celebrating their 50th anniversary in 2016-17 along with surviving teams of that season – the Los Angeles Kings, Pittsburgh Penguins, and St Louis Blues. This new jersey will be available to fans for purchase at the arena on September 7th.
