There was a time when the idea of a Toronto-based phantom merchandise post seemed like something we’d never see around here. It now seems to be a regular occurrence. In the past 14 months this is the fourth Toronto team to make it to a final (conference or league) and come up short, Toronto FC made it the closest to winning it all – by far – taking the Seattle Sounders to a shootout (and even that went unresolved after the first five).

But whatever, TFC is finally a decent team and they’ll have their day we’re sure. In the meantime, here’s what their MLS Cup championship merchandise would have looked like had they won it all in 2016.

As for me, the roster of teams I root for in each league – the Blue Jays, Raptors, Carolina Panthers, TFC, and Argentina (in the World Cup)… we’ll omit the Leafs for the purposes of this list. Yeah… they’re all the defending “phantom champs” in their respective leagues or conferences, one is even a back-to-back “phantom champ”. Always a bridesmaid. Sigh.

To see our past posts of phantom champs merchandise including a peek at the Cleveland Indians 2016 World Series Champions collection take a look here.
