What? Was the “Baltimore Arena Stallions” not allowed?

The new Baltimore Arena Football League team today announced they would be known as the Baltimore Brigade when they take the carpet for their inaugural indoor football season this spring. The announcement was made at Baltimore’s Royal Farms Arena, the same building in which the Brigade will play their home games.

As you can tell from the name, its origins are military based, the explanation by the team:

The Baltimore Brigade represents the city of Baltimore’s rich military history and symbolizes the strength of the city and the team playing as a unified force on the field. “

Three of the four logos feature a pentagon prominently, this is a reference to Fort McHenry a Baltimore historical landmark which was the site of an important War of 1812 battle and later inspired the poem which eventually became the words  to the Star Spangled Banner.

Uniforms were also unveiled but came with a blank white helmet, this will be unveiled at a later date:

BALTIMORE BRIGADE UNIFORMS 2017bBoth home and road sets have “BALTIMORE” across the front to show civic pride, the pants read “CHARM CITY” down the side which I’ve just learned is “Baltimore’s famous nickname”.

The helmet will be white and feature the wave (seen in the primary logo) on the side.

The now five-team Arena Football League kicks off its 2017 season in April, the Brigade will take on regional rivals (and owned by the same company) the Washington Valor in their first game.
