Oakland Athletics Announce Anniversary Patch for 2018

The Oakland Athletics will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of their move from Kansas City to Oakland next season by sporting a commemorative patch.

The logo is green, yellow, and “anniversary gold” with a silhouette of the Oakland skyline. The number 50 is the main focus, placed on top of the City of Oakland’s tree logo; the entire logo is encased within a shield designed to resemble that of the Oakland Fox Theater marquee. A modified version of this logo will be worn as a patch on the A’s home, road, and alternate jerseys as well as their caps throughout the 2018 season.

Following the 1967 season the Kansas City Athletics relocated from Missouri to Oakland where they made their debut as the Oakland Athletics for 1968. The Athletics have won four World Series Championships and six American League pennants since the move, overall they’ve won nine World Titles — the other five all coming during their time in Philadelphia (1901-54), they won no titles in Kansas City.
