Jersey Foul: FAMU Penalized for Illegal Uniform

The Florida A&M Rattlers learned a valuable lesson yesterday… don’t wear the same colour numbers as your jersey. Ever.

When the FAMU Rattlers took to the field to start the first quarter against the Arkansas Razorbacks they were penalized for illegal jerseys, their white jersey featured white numbers – that’s a no-no. The penalty was losing one of their timeouts.

As the road team they had no change of jerseys and were therefore repeatedly penalized at the beginning of each quarter to follow, in total throughout the game they lost four of their six timeouts because of the white numbers. Whoops.

The rule states a team must wear uniform numbers which are a different colour than the jersey base, whether they’re outlined or not. The rule came into effect two years ago but FAMU was not penalized last year despite wearing the same tops all season.

Sweet helmets tho.
