Philadelphia Flyers Quietly Unveil Third Jersey

The Philadelphia Flyers appeared to have quietly unveiled their third jersey for the 2018-19 season yesterday via a post to their official Instagram account.

The jersey is a direct copy of their 2017 Stadium Series uniform, minus the commemorative patches (we presume). The all-black uniform with large orange stripes was already alluded to as being their third jersey during a fan event held a few months ago.

Philadelphia had previously worn a black uniform both as an alternate and as the primary dark option from 1997 through 2010, two different designs during that time; this new alternate uniform is the first regular black jersey worn by the club in nearly a decade.

The Flyers didn’t release any photos of the jersey using the new Adidas cut, we can only look back at the images used for the original unveiling in December 2016.

This marks three new alternate uniforms in total unveiled yesterday on the day of the NHL Draft – the Carolina Hurricanes and Arizona Coyotes both released their third uniforms, oddly enough all three of these new uniforms were all black.

UPDATE July 29/18: A whole month later, the Flyers and Adidas made the grand announcement very official with an unveil video posted to Twitter. Here it is on our YouTube channel (yes, we have one!)
