Blackhawks Remember Mikita With Uniform Patch

The Chicago Blackhawks will be remembering one of their all-time greats throughout the 2018-2019 season.

In honour of Hockey Hall of Famer Stan Mikita, the Blackhawks will be wearing a #21 memorial patch on both their home and road jerseys this season. The patch is a simple design featuring Mikita’s retired number 21 in white block numbers on a black circle with additional white and black outlines.

Mikita, born in Czechoslovakia in 1940 but played for the Canadian team on the national stage, spent twenty-two seasons in the National Hockey League – all of which were spent in the Windy City. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1983, Mikita won a Stanley Cup with the Black Hawks in 1961 while pocketing 541 goals with 926 assists for 1467 points in his 1396 games played.

Mikita died on August 7th, 2018 at the age of 78.
