Utah Jazz Turn 40 with Throwback Uniform, Anniversary Logo

The Utah Jazz will be celebrating their 40th season in the Beehive State with a special commemorative logo and a classic team uniform.

Throwing it back to their first seasons in Salt Lake City, the Jazz will wear their old purple uniforms again with the original JAZZ wordmark across the chest with gold, green, and white striping.

“These classic jerseys are an instant visual connection to our rich and storied past in the state of Utah,” said Bart Sharp, Jazz senior vice president of marketing in the press release. “Our 40th season celebration is a natural time to reflect on the past and all we have shared together with the fans of Utah, but it’s also an opportunity to look ahead to what is undoubtedly an exciting time for this franchise and the entire state.”

The Jazz wore these uniforms as their usual road set up until they were replaced with the mountain range look for the 1996-97 season. They will be worn nine times in the upcoming 2018-19 season, five times at home and four on the road, the first of which on November 7th against the Dallas Mavericks; the Jazz will also wear them for a game against the New Orleans Pelicans (appropriate) but unfortunately not *at* New Orleans.
