El Paso Chihuahuas introduce new alternate logos

In many ways, the arrival of the El Paso Chihuahuas in 2014 signaled the full arrival of the era of the wacky minor league logo. They weren’t the first, but they became the poster team, the mascot everyone pointed to when they said, “Look at how outrageous minor league baseball has become.”

Now, on the cusp of their sixth season, the team has seen the need to freshen things up. The Chihuahuas unveiled a series of logos highlighted by a howling, sombero-wearing Chico, plus a couple revised treatments of their El Paso and EP marks.

In addition, the team has given in to the impulse of nostalgia and will revive one of the identities of the El Paso Diablos, who played there from 1974 to 2013—complete with a beloved chile pepper D cap logo. The team will wear this particular Diablos look, which was worn by the Double-A iteration of the club from 1999 to 2004, on special promotional nights.

The Chihuahuas, an affiliate of the San Diego Padres, will host the 2019 Triple-A All Star game in July.
