With Spring Training now just mere days away(!), Major League Baseball has today released the 2019 Major League Baseball Spring Training cap collection.
The biggest change overall is the change in the construction of the caps, last year’s new “ProLight” material is gone after just one year, replaced “HexTech” performance fabric. Visibly it looks more like the Spring Training caps we’re used to seeing, how it physically fits and feels and something I’ll have to wait to experience myself next time I’m at the mall (or New Era can always send a sample, 7 3/8).
As for individual team designs, most of the thirty MLB teams are sticking with their Spring caps from 2018, overall four teams will have a whole new look — the Miami Marlins (obviously), the Oakland Athletics, Seattle Mariners, and the Washington Nationals.
There are new patches going on the side of each cap, by popular demand these side patches no longer contain the year as they had since the Spring cap patch program began. Based on my interactions, many fans expressed that they were reluctant to buy these caps knowing the year shown would render them visibly out-of-date quite quickly.

Some jerseys were also released, but not all. We’ll cover those once we have the complete collection to present all at once.
