Baylor Athletics Teases Unified Nike Branding

Baylor is one of just a handful of big-time college athletic departments that lacks color consistency across its 18 sports programs. But if graphics are any indication, the Bears will unveil a “unified” brand during the football team’s annual Green and Gold spring game on April 13.

Though the university’s official colors are Baylor Green and Championship Gold, the football and women’s basketball programs use Vegas gold; the men’s basketball team wears neon yellow; and the baseball team dons old gold.

The football and men’s basketball programs also use a custom font developed by Nike in 2013, while the baseball and women’s basketball teams use a traditional block font. It’s safe to say the unified brand will be a welcomed change.

With that said, you’ll notice the graphics shared on social media by the athletic department include a new, rounded number font — with notches — and implies the Bears will use the more traditional shade of gold moving forward.

Baylor opens the 2019 football season on Aug. 31 against Stephen F. Austin, which will be the first time we see the new threads in action.
