All MLB Teams Wearing Pink Caps, Ribbons and More Today for Mother’s Day

To help celebrate moms everywhere, all thirty Major League Baseball clubs will be wearing commemorative caps, patches, socks, and more for today’s Mother’s Day games.

This mark’s the fourth season that the league has had clubs wear a different cap or jersey for the event when in 2016 teams first wore pink caps and pink-themed jerseys. Pink accessories such as bats, gloves, wristbands, and jersey ribbons have been around since 2006.

In 2018, Mother’s and Father’s Day were scaled back a bit returning to just the ribbon patch on the jersey and pink accents on the caps, that continues this year.

Let’s take a look at what will be worn today for 2019:

You’ll see a lot more of your team’s usual colours on Mother’s Day this year, with clubs wearing their regular jersey – just with a pink ribbon patch attached – as well as the caps retaining their standard colour on the crown and button.

An optional, mostly pink sock design is being offered to players to wear for the date, includes alternating white, pink, and dark pink stripes before going to grey for the foot.

Team logos on the cap will be predominantly pink with accenting in the colour of the cap crown, the brims of the cap will be pink – this is where most will notice that a special cap is being worn. Pink is also used for the New Era Cap logo on the left side as well as the MLB batter logo on the back of the cap.

“There’s only so many versions you can do over the years, and New Era continually impresses us”, MLB’s Vice President, Authentic Collection Stephen Roche told SportsLogos.Net. “They work closely with the teams, they work closely with us. We get approvals from the teams and we get feedback, and sometimes teams will tell me ‘Hey, for next year, let’s try this'”.

Here are the 2019 Mother’s Day cap designs for every MLB team:

Proceeds from the sale of Mother’s Day items go to the Susan G. Komen Foundation as well as Stand Up To Cancer.

Teams will wear commemorative uniforms again for Armed Forces Weekend, Father’s Day, and the Fourth of July. Special patches will be added to uniforms on Memorial Day. You can see all those designs here.
