Toledo to play as Mud Crawlers during Jeep Fest

The city of Toledo, Ohio, has been home to Jeep since the company’s founding in 1943. More than eight decades later, the Toledo Assembly Complex is now the only place in the world where the iconic Jeep Wrangler is produced.

To that end, the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens, who have played in the city in one form or another since the turn of the 20th century, will pay homage to their intra-city brethren by playing three games as the Toledo Mud Crawlers during Jeep Fest later this summer.

The nickname Mud Crawlers is a wink and a nod to Jeep owners’ propensity for getting their vehicles dirty—and that splatter will be reflected on the team’s promotional jerseys.

The Mud Crawlers will take the field August 9, 10, and 11, with the first 1,500 fans at the Friday game receiving bobbleheads of mascot Muddy the Mud Hen off-roading on a Jeep. Game-worn jerseys will be auctioned off to benefit Sunshine Communities.
