Details of the Los Angeles Lakers new City Edition uniform were posted prior to its official unveiling on multiple Chinese e-commerce websites.
The websites show a gold t-shirt with the “Lakers” familar script across the front in white with a purple drop shadow; LeBron James’ #23 below in the same style. This listing is titled (and I’m trusting on Google Translate here) “NIKE City Edition Lakers James Dri-FIT Big Boy Short Sleeve T-Shirt”.
A source has confirmed to SportsLogos.Net that this is indeed the same style of logo, colours, and fonts that the Lakers will use on their new City uniform in 2019-20.
In the distance I can faintly hear cries of “they already wear a gold jersey! what’s the difference?!”
Aside from not seeing any of the accompanying details of this new uniform (striping, for example), the wordmark across the chest here is white with a purple drop shadow while their Icon Edition jersey has “Lakers” across the chest in purple with white trim — no drop shadow. The player number is also re-coloured from white to purple.
Note, this jersey will not be replacing their existing gold “Icon” uniform.
