Charlotte Hornets Announce Return of Purple Throwback Uniforms

The Charlotte Hornets this afternoon unveiled their new “Classic Edition” uniform that the club will wear for a series of games for the upcoming 2019-20 NBA season.

Throwing back to the mid-1990s, the Hornets Classic uniform this season will be purple with alternating white, blue, and teal pinstripes. The team’s original “CHARLOTTE” wordmark arched across the chest in white with teal trim and the player number below in the same.

Collar striping is a series of thin purple, white, and teal stripes and is around both the neck and each arm. As is the case with the Hornets regular uniform set, the jerseys use the “Air Jordan” logo in place of the typical Nike Swoosh.

Fun note: when these uniforms were originally being worn by the Hornets in 1995, Air Jordan and his Chicago Bulls were knocking them out of the first round of the playoffs.

That’s kinda neat, right?

The purple throwbacks, worn originally for two seasons (1994-1996) as an alternate uniform, replace the white version of this set that the club used as their “Classic Edition” last season.
