Gwinnett Stripers update caps, uniforms

The Gwinnett Stripers, Triple-A affiliate of the Atlanta Braves, unveiled a new pinstriped home jersey, a new batting practice cap, and an updated retro alternate cap today.

The new jersey is a simplified version of one the team wore last year. The 2020 version removes piping from the neck and buttons so that the Stripers logo is set against the navy pinstripes. (The piping was not removed altogether, though—it’s still there around the sleeves.) The new jerseys feature an Atlanta Braves created by the Braves, who own the club.

The new batting practice highlights the team’s “bass green” color and features a new “GWIN” logo. The new logo, created in house, is “a mark that displays the navy, waving waters of Lake Lanier meeting the white sky,” per the team.

The alternate cap features an a logo with a worm on a hook—new this year is the fact that it’s two tone instead of solid navy. The look is meant to evoke their parent club’s “iconic blue-sleeved feather tops worn during the 1970s,” according to the team.

“In introducing these new looks, we hope to further strengthen the Stripers’ unique brand,” said Vice President and General Manager Adam English. “With the new ‘GWIN’ logo, we wanted to create something that is bold and unmistakably Gwinnett, that citizens of this county can proudly wear to represent their home. The updates to the ‘Worm’ cap and home jersey help to make our uniforms cleaner and more cohesive, and the addition of the Braves sleeve patch honors our core identity as Atlanta’s Triple-A affiliate.”
