The Cincinnati Cyclones are set to make a big announcement tonight at 8pm ET, touting it as a coming “Winds of Change” on their Twitter account.
Well, if a trademark application for a new logo is any indicator, they’ll be showing off their swell new look.
Shown at the top of this post, the image which accompanies USPTO trademark serial #86135240 shows a large black and white letter C with a red, black, and silver cyclone in the middle. The trademark was registered by “Arena Management Holdings” of Cincinnati, Ohio (the same group which owns the Cyclones existing trademarks) and was filed December 3, 2013.
Here’s the probable new mark compared to what they’d been using for the past decade:
Upgrade.
The Cincinnati Cyclones are a member of the ECHL, the current franchise relocated from Miami and played their first season in 2001. Currently they are an affiliate of both the NHL’s Florida Panthers and Nashville Predators, they are two-time ECHL’s Kelly Cup Champions winning in 2008 and 2010.
Teams using the Cyclones name have existed since 1990 playing previously in both the ECHL and the old International League where they used this, at one time, worst logo in the history of anything:

The Cincinnati Cyclones have officially unveiled the logo we posted earlier today, an excerpt from their official release which you can read in full here:
In partnership with Cincinnati-based agency, LPK, the Cyclones have unveiled new branding in conjunction with a complete uniform overhaul. The updated colour scheme features red, black, and gunmetal grey, which will be highlighted on the team’s three uniform combinations.
