Texas A&M will wear throwback uniforms during 2016 season

The Texas A&M Aggies have a proud history in football, even though they haven’t won a National Championship since the 1930s. They also have a good recent history with throwback uniforms, as evidenced by the amazing 1939 throwbacks that they wore back in 2014.

Now, it appears that the Aggies will be dipping further into their uniform catalog, as head coach Kevin Sumlin has made it known that the team will be wearing throwbacks again for the 2016 season.

The question is, which championship team will be honored? If we’re talking about National titles, then again, the Aggies will have to go all the way back to the 1920s and even the 1910s, with 1939 being their most recent National Championship season. If we’re talking conference titles, then Texas A&M will only have to go back to as recent as 1998, which is when they won the Big XII Championship. This also opens up pretty much every other decade, since they’ve managed to win at least one conference title in each of the decades before the 2000s.

So really, we could see anything, but I have a feeling that we’ll probably see another throwback from the days of leather helmets. If it’s anything like Adidas’ execution of the 1939 throwbacks, then we could be seeing the Aggies take the field in another amazing throwback uniform.
