Thanks Chris. Over the moon with the Blue Jays (no more just ‘Jays’ nonsense!) and i’m actually warming to the Marlins logo. Dare I say I dig it? The color scheme is completely unique. Just having no black anywhere near it is an automatic upgrade. Besides, teal is as dated as the early 90s Cross Colours jeans and Snow singing “Informer”.

As a Jays fan, I do like the throwback. The present logo on the hat just looked far to large when attached with the J. I don’t know why they didn’t just have the Jay head on it’s own, it would have looked far cleaner. As for using the Maple Leaf, I don’t get it. We’re the Toronto Blue Jays, and we already have the Maple Leafs. Why do we have a need to tell everyone that Toronto is in Canada?? I think most people already know…

Im a marlins fan and the one thing i was looking forward to cause since we dont win, was the new stadium, new jersey and new logo.
They did show that on our news station in FtLauderdale so its a big possibility that that is it. But i just hope the jerseys make up for this mistake.

Toronto: Thank you! It’s not confirmed yet, but it’s such an improvement from this current logo which seems to be a disconnect from any tradition that the Blue Jays are so rich with!
Miami: I think I understand it. There is a party vibe from these colors that relates well to the culture. It has colors that are representative of the Latin/Central American influence of the city. Stylistically, I’m not a fan, but I think I understand it. That’s my two cents.

I really like the Jays logo – slightly sleeker Jay ala current logo with the retro style ties it nicely…

The Marlins logo is only missing one thing – Tubbs sitting on the top of the M. And a pixeled Tubbs at that. Or perhaps an ASCII art Tubbs. Poor Miami fans.

Nothing wrong with the Jays going back to basics here. I do agree with DMadSport who said that it’s a tad thrown together. Personally I hope they are both fakes, as both would need work compositionally speaking. The Miami logo’s saving grace is that the color scheme is at least different and fresh as Danya pointed out, however the Marlins may make the same mistake that the Jays are trying to fix with this “retro-redo”: That being when you completely change an established logo and look with no regard for what has been done, you are very likely to tick off your die-hard fan base, and draw a lot of fire. Some people may like it but your core fan base may never forgive you for it. I want to see the Marlins do something new and fresh and thus capitalize on this unique opportunity to draw new fans, however you don’t want to completely ostracize those who like the current colors and buy tickets to see that team play. I suppose I was expecting/hoping for something like what I saw when I google searched “Miami marlins” In that search was a very clean “Miami” script logo underlined by a marlin dorsal fin. follow that link and at the bottom of the page you’ll find that and some other very nice, clean black and teal logos posted by Athletics17.

Jays logo – a return to a modernized “classic” Jays look is sorely overdue. Great work and I hope it’s not an alternate – the experiments of the last 10+ years were disastrous. ….Disagreeing with other commenters – what is the obsession with black? They’re the Blue Jays – and black just doesn’t fit the motif well – my opinion.

…But it carries over to the Marlin discussion. Very art-deco, and there have been rumors they would go in a similar direction. Hopefully it will look better than the image we have in our minds now. Again – what’s the obsession with black? The team *has* confirmed that black will be a significant part of the new branding theme. Sorry – when I think of Florida and Miami – I don’t think of black. I don’t. I don’t think of black when I hear “Toronto Blue Jays” either… Or Oakland A’s (thankfully they killed that experiment), or NY Mets. Here’s one vote for a dying trend, though I know others love it. Black sells, and marketers confirm…
