Ottawa Senators Unveil New Uniform

The uniform hockey fans in the capital of Canada wanted since day one has finally arrived.

The Ottawa Senators this morning officially unveiled their new “heritage” third jersey at their Puck Drop fan event at ScotiaBank Place.

“I like this look, it’s a great mix of traditional and modern and I think the fans will really like it” – Senators captain Daniel Alfredsson.

The new jersey is a homage to the jersey of the original Ottawa Senators NHL club, winners of 4 Stanley Cups in the 1920s, heavily borrowing elements from their design by using their iconic black-red-white “barberpole” striped design.

A large black “O” is centered on the chest, outlined in both heritage white and red, two shield patches containing the team name (one in English, one in French) are on each shoulder.  The patches mimic the “World Champions” patches the original club would sport in seasons following Stanley Cup victories.

The team is also wearing the 2012 NHL All-Star Game logo on the upper left portion of the sweater.
