The video trailer for the new Playstation 3 video game MLB12: The Show was released today and in it we got several looks at new Major League Baseball uniforms for the upcoming 2012 season “in action” such as the Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays.
But at the 1:27 mark of the video there’s a shot of a home run derby with a player wearing a gold jersey that reads “American” in blue script across the front, this jersey also has white sleeves.
What we’re likely seeing is our first look at the 2012 MLB All-Star Game batting practice/home run derby jerseys, these jerseys are typically patterned after the host team’s colour scheme or uniforms – this year the All-Star Game will be played in Kansas City, the Royals have a colour scheme of blue, white, and gold.
In recent seasons these jerseys are worn during the Home Run Derby and any events that take place prior to the actual All-Star Game itself. These jerseys will typically have the All-Star Game logo on one sleeve and the team logo of the team the player plays for on the other sleeve. There are no special caps, the player will wear his regular team cap with a all-star game patch on the side and two stars on either side of the MLB patch on the back of the cap.
No shots of the new National League jersey but my money’s on a blue jersey with white sleeves and “National” across the front in white with gold accents.
