I find it funny that the Nets have never actually used a net on any of their logos. Looks as if that tradition may continue if that bland logo is in fact a reality.

They should definitely revert back to their ABA style uniforms albeit a slightly modernized version of them.

A small correction – the script unis were introduced in 1981, not 1982. When Larry Brown took over as coach he insisted on changing the ABA-style unis. After he unceremoniously left/was fired, the team reverted back to the ABA unis, with the addition of a vertical “New Jersey” on the red stripe.

It can’t be black and white. Even Jay Z should relize Red, White, and Blue has been there colors since the begining. They should’nt change it.

He later went on to join the Memphis Arena Football team after they moved to Portland. Spoelstra’s influence was immediately felt, as the franchise took on the name “Forest Dragons”. Obviously, Spoelstra had a bee in his bonnet about using dragons with a regional prefix.

I can’t help but think that a lot of people trashing the logo would say similar if the Yankees were a new team and unveiled their logo.

It is clear the Nets were going for a classic, clean look that they hope will become instantly recognizable. Whenever you see the white “Brooklyn” on black, it will become synonymous with the Brooklyn Nets. The logo reminds me of the Raiders, who despite having gone through a long period without experiencing success, have one of the most popular and recognizable logos in sports.

You also have to remember that this is not the only logo. They will have alternative logos which will utilize the name “Brooklyn” which I have little to no doubt will be a big hit.

It will grow on you. It did for me.

If this is their new logo, then please add some red and blue in it. Use some black but use it subtly. One thing I’d add to it, a hoop around the basketball with a net (thin lines though).

one thing about basketball logos in general: most are pretty bland. a few years back, lukas wrote a great article saying how often a basketball appears in NBA logos. it’s funny, but is the nets identity blander than say…the knicks? not really, and i’m a knicks fan.

i think i’ll reserved judgment on their new look until i see the unis.

It’s nice to know that the Nets will FINALLY have a permanent home and it’s a gorgeous new building in Brooklyn! The Nets have moved around a TON in their history, more than people know. They were originally gonna start in Manhattan but the Knicks pressured that building’s owner not to take them so their first home was Teaneck, NJ then Commack, NY to West Hempstead, NY to Uniondale, NY to Rutgers in NJ to East Rutherford, NJ to Newark, NJ and now Brooklyn, NY! Brooklyn lost the Dodgers in 1957 and will now gain the Nets in 2012!

I can’t even begin to tell you how excited I am for this move! Brooklyn Nets!!!

That “leaked” logo CAN’T be what they’ll unveil on the 30th! Jay-Z is said to have his hand in redesign of the logo/branding and I don’t think even HE would think this is okay!

The new logo is seriously the ugliest and most boring thing I have ever seen. Is it a basketball logo or a law firm??

That supposed logo is very generic and lame(though considering most of the Nets historical looks, it fits).

I’d have to rank this just above FC New York(look it up) as one of the worst logos in the NYC area’s history.
