Three different jerseys, three different pants, and three different helmets assure the Eagles will look different each game for the foreseeable future. Adidas provided EMU with the new uniform choices for use during the 2012-2013 season.
Green, white, and grey are the colors of each of the three selections, and various combinations were shown. The jerseys have a wing design on the shoulders, which will no doubt, remind viewers of the Oregon Ducks shoulder wings.
Coach Ron English announced that the uniforms are a lightweight design made with TechFit fabric, which promises a “breatheable, comfortable fit” for the players. TechFit is being released, slowly, to programs and features a seamless construction with panels made to breathe or protect.
Interestingly, the images released by Eastern Michigan are all illustrations, rather than photographs, so tint, color, fit, etc is difficult to ascertain. The lone photograph is a “leaked” pic that was out about a week prior.
In looking at the documents under the helmets, this shows a three stripe arm on the green jersey, which is inconsistent with the illustrations official released. Though, from these, one can tell the grey is a flat finish, which I’m sure will appeal to those mercurial “youth.”
Adidas apparently thinks people love the logo’s gloves that Nike makes, so they created a version for EMU, with the block E, in this case on each palm, rather than the convoluted diamond-hands-pattern across both.
In a unique promotion, EMU is asking fans to vote on its Facebook and Twitter pages on its uniform combination for its Oct. 13 home game against Toledo. Voting concludes on Aug. 30 and the winning combination will be unveiled prior to kickoff. Fans can vote on Facebook here.
Here is a selection of some of the available options.
What say you, sportsfan? Is this a cool modern look, or is it gimmicky, tacky, copycat tripe? Would you wear it? Would it make you choose Eastern Michigan?
