We all know it’s an island, the Abbies were a long and cherished team, and the name should represent the entire province and not just Charlottetown. Though it hasn’t been around long (relatively), I’m tempted to come up with something relating to the bridge to New Brunswick.

Maybe I’ll get around to looking into the people’s and natural histories of PEI and come up with a name that hasn’t been used but has a strong tie to the island.

Hmmm… I just had an idea about using only Island in the name as an geographic indicator. The Island Abbies, for example. PEI is simple called by many, if not most people in the Maritimes, The Island.

I like using traditional names like the Islanders and let’s face it, if your team is playing in the capitol of Prince Edward Island, will it make much difference?

It cant be called the Charlottetown Islanders as it isn’t just a Charlottetown team.
