Syracuse is honoring legend Ernie Davis at today’s game versus #2 USC by wearing special uniform touches for the game. The jerseys will be their standard navy, but will be paired with undershirts that feature the jersey-sleeve striping design from Davis’ playing days, 1959-1961.

The jerseys will add a special patch, honoring Davis’ 44 and the Syracuse ZIP code, 13244. Syracuse was granted special permission form the US Postal Service to change their code to end in 44, after the 3 Hall Of Famers, and several other stand-outs who wore the number.

Undersleeve striping is a new way to use modern non-sleeve designs to still show the looks of the previous teams.

The back of the jersey, and the top of their socks will say “Express,” signifying Davis’ nickname, The Elmira Express.
How do you like the special touches for this game? Tasteful? Enough?
