There are quite a few American Hockey League teams planning on unveiling their new 2012-13 season jerseys in the weeks ahead but for anyone who has a copy of EA Sports’ latest hockey video game “NHL 13” the changes are already there.
In addition to the new jerseys unveiled by three AHL teams already this off-season – Hershey, Rochester, and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton – NHL13 shows seven more teams making some sort of change to their uniform set for the upcoming season.
Let’s take a look at these new AHL jerseys for 2012-13 that have yet to be unveiled from the jersey select screen of NHL13:
Toronto Marlies 2012-13 Home and Road Jerseys: The Marlies are coming into line with the changes their owners/parent NHL club made prior to last season. The noticeable change is the return of striping along the waistline, lace-up collars are new and the collar colours.
Worcester Sharks 2012-13 Home and Road Jerseys: Worcester, like Toronto, has updated their jerseys to match the newer style of their parent club. The home jersey is an interesting look for fans of the San Jose Sharks in that it combines the newer Sharks uniform template with the original San Jose logo. For the road jersey, the San Jose template is again used only with the Worcester alternate logo on the front.
Syracuse Crunch 2012-13 Home and Road Jerseys: Syracuse underwent a complete re-branding of their logo to coincide with their new affiliation with the Tampa Bay Lightning. The jerseys have yet to be unveiled. What NHL13 lists for the Crunch is a set of retro inspired alternate jerseys the club used back in the 2010/11 season. I’m a little skeptical that these are the new uniforms for the Crunch, we’ll have to wait and see.
Binghamton Senators 2012-13 Third Jersey: A new red jersey that follows the design of the existing home and road Binghamton uniforms with the exception being the old Binghamton Senators primary logo on the front
Lake Erie Monsters 2012-13 Home Jersey: The big change for the Monsters is the removal of the burgundy shoulders – in its place is that piping that comes from the collar down the sides. The road jersey appears to be unchanged from last year.
Peoria Rivermen 2012-13 Third Jersey: Peoria’s “RIVS” wordmark from the third jerseys of seasons past is back, this time on a white jersey with similar design features as the home.
Springfield Falcons 2012-13 Third Jersey: Totally new design not seen on the existing Falcons set, red jersey with blue shoulders. “FALCONS” across the hem. Alternate logo with arched “Springfield” script above falcon on chest.

Everything else in the AHL appears to be the same as last season. The special one-game-only jerseys which several AHL teams use throughout the season are not featured in the video game — we’ll just have to wait until those are unveiled.
