The University of South Florida (USF) wants to bring a little surfer style—or So-Flo, as they say—to Madison Square Garden on Tuesday.
Debuting new Under Armour-designed uniforms, the Big East basketball team will take on Seton Hall in a set of green uniforms that start getting funky in the shorts and the shoes.
The uniform was inspired by a “retro-chic style” featuring UA’s take on the surfer stripe as well as the modern, horizontal graphics from South Florida’s home arena. The green and yellow that plays so prominently in both the green-based and white looks are inspired by the Florida sunset.
The uniform’s jersey stays relatively basic, with a green background highlighted by bold yellow necklines and lettering. But the shorts offer up that surfer stripe-sunset motif, blending together yellows and greens in a dominant way.
South Florida also has the same look in a white uniform, although there’s no word on what the Bulls will wear on Wednesday if they can advance past Seton Hall on Tuesday.
To get the desired look, Under Armour used its “Armourfuse” construction method that allows sublimating of fabrics for stripes over stripes without any added weight. By adding in matching shoes, the look goes head-to-toe So-Flo.
