The Packers logo, as mentioned in a previous comment, came about in 1961. Georgia was given permission to use the logo in 1964 and Grambling in 1965 (in honor of All-Pro and soon-to-be Hall of Famer Willie Davis, a GSU alum). The article below confirms this.

They created a new logo because their train wasn’t “symmetrical enough” for them to put on their apparel. Looks like they went for the same thing with the bulldog logo here. Clean and symmetrical, looks good though.
