This stuff has gotten out of hand. It’s nice to honor our fallen troops, but this is too much. I hate how MLB has taken every holiday — Memorial Day, 4th of July, etc. — and bastardized it like this.

But I guess we can take solace in the fact that all proceeds from sales of hates and jerseys go to things like the Wounded Warrior Project, instead of just a portion of the sales like in years past.

Correction…

Toronto didn’t wear the hats. They wore their spring training blue hat with the dominant red maple leaf on the front. Their jerseys were the only camo paying tribute.

Toronto is a member of MLB, an American baseball league. Out of respect to America, they participate. I do agree, however, that a flag (either American OR Canadian…very brave men and women there, too) is a more appropriate choice to honor those who have fallen in service.
If anything, Canadians have an additional day to honor those who have given their life for their country.

These are embarrassing. Every time a team, a league, plays camo dress-up, I find it insulting. They didn’t do anything to deserve to wear what we wear, and it’s especially disgusting when they include the reverse flag on their jerseys/shirts. That’s for the men and women who do actually lead this nation in protecting our liberties abroad and at home. They say the proceeds go to supporting military charities, but really? Are they that transparent? I doubt it. I waited 322 days for the VA to help me when I returned from my last deployment, and that’s lucky. A lot of good folks have waited longer. They want to truly honor those who serve…donate some money to help with that.
