First off I want to say fantastic blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to ask if you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I have had difficulty clearing my thoughts in getting my thoughts out there. I do enjoy writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be wasted simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips? Kudos!

It’s a really creative way to unveil a logo but the tease better be as good as the payoff! I agree with a lot of you, the Fleur-de-lis is used a lot and the colors are very close to the New Orleans Zephyrs who play down the street.

I’d say It fits in with a more “modern” scheme. Other than that it’s not an upgrade. Forced Fleur de lis’s PLURAL. No use of UNO or the word University is a bit odd.

Saw their new logo it’s a downgrade in my opinion. Why does every New Orleans logo need to have the Fleur-de-lis?

Georgia State did this with their uniform unveiling. They removed a piece of the puzzle every hour.

A very forced cross breed between a fleur de lis and a pirate. I can imagine that they want a new identity, but why not upgrade the current logo in royal blue and silver and put a fleur de lis on his hat instead of UNO? If you want a break with the past, let him face the other way. This puzzle (I like the way of unveiling by the way) looks not at all promising.

In reply to Tommy A. Thanks for the interest in the new New Orleans logo. There are a couple reasons the logo is being changed. One, the current logo was put in place during the last administration's reign of terror. The department tried to drop to Div III, then switched to Div II, before the new leadership at the school stepped in and saved Div I athletics. The current logo just has that stink on it and it's a smart move by the new leadership to create a new identity for Privateer Athletics moving forward. Two, red has always been in our logos even though the school colors are silver and royal blue. None of our long time supporters want red anywhere in our official logo. It's looking like we have finally been heard where that's concerned.

Looks like another fleur-de-lis logo, even it’s in a pirate form.

Wordmark appears to be a massive upgrade over what they have now.

Hoping red still plays a factor.

I think it would be cool for a more widely recognized school. To be honest, most people could care less about the University of New Orleans. Not including myself, I like following mid-majors.
