I agree with you there. If teams wear alternate uniforms, they’re called alternates for a reason. They should only be worn occasionally.

Not to mention I think some of them look kinda like Little League uniforms.

I stand corrected! A little embarrassed that I thought it was black, as I am a Nats fan.

The button on top should be navy though, and it appears to be red in the graphic.

Their all red cap is definitely the best of the lot!

As Aaron already alluded to, the Nats do not wear a cap with a black bill – but there’s one with a dark navy blue (as shown in the photograph earlier in this article)… I’m betting it may just appear black on your television but I can 100% confirm it is indeed blue.

That’s because the cap bill is navy.

This sort of reminds me of what the Phillies did in 1994 after winning the NL pennant the year before, adopted alternate blue caps for Sunday home games. Players didn’t like them, and the Phils lost most of those games. A few years later, the team unveiled red caps with blue bills for interleague play, similar to what the Nats created for 2013.

Don’t forget the Cardinals still wear their navy road caps occasionally.
