Defending German Bundesliga/DFB Pokal/UEFA Champions League winners Bayern Munich have released their away kits for the 2013-14 season, and they’re definitely a point of conversation.
The white shirts-brown shorts combo is meant to invoke the illusion of the players wearing lederhosen, with the motto of “More Bayern than ever before,” referring to the old Bavarian tradition of wearing lederhosen. Per usual with big-time European kit unveilings, the club went all out. They even had the players dress up in traditional german hats with lederhosen hanging from the lockers from the photoshoot.
The kits have also come just in time for the 180th edition of Oktoberfest, and it appears that Bayern Munich have made the wise choice of trying to cash in on that occasion by paying tribute to it with the kits.
Personally, the colour scheme of white, brown, and green can work when it’s used in its correct capacity (which the club actually did a while back in hilarious fashion), but on the pitch, it looks a bit weird. Still, this is sure to bring even more buzz to the current Kings of Europe, and there’s always a chance that these shirts could be seen all over the actual Oktoberfest events in Germany.
So, what do you think? Did they nail the look, or did they come up a bit short? As always, let us know in the comment section!
