We’ll get another set of mismatched throwbacks this week in the NFL as both the Washington Redskins and St. Louis Rams will be wearing current helmets with retro jerseys this afternoon. Both historical inaccuracies are a result of the new NFL policy limiting teams to only one helmet shell colour per season… meanwhile in the NCAA teams are out there in 5 different helmets per season. Yup.
In other news, the Tennessee Titans will be wearing a memorial patch on their jersey for owner Bud Adams – you can see what that patch looks like here. The Titans will be matched up against the throwback wearing Rams in a reverse uniform rematch of Super Bowl XXXV, the Rams wore white in that game but will wear blue today.
The Buffalo Bills will be doing a “white-out” promotion, they will wear white jerseys and pants along with their white helmets. Fans are encouraged to wear white as well. The Seattle Seahawks are honouring the 30th anniversary of their 1983 team today but are not expected to wear throwbacks as far as I can tell.
