I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I’m afraid I have no choice. The Cleveland Browns have confirmed that they’re getting a Nike uniform makeover for the 2015 NFL season.
Browns’ team president Alec Scheiner is already using quotes commonly used when a terrible uniform is about to drop.
Examples:
“We’ll have cutting-edge uniforms”
“I’m really excited about our direction”
“I’ll be very surprised if our fans don’t love our new-look uniforms”
“We’re headed down a really cool path”
Add ’em all together, what do you get? Well, we’ll find out before next year’s draft, but, we all know what we’re in for.
There are a couple of points that can help us all breath a little easier… Scheiner also said the uniforms will ” link back to our history” while last year owner Jimmy Haslam said “there will be no change to the helmet”. So there’s that hope to hold on to.
Nike has had a checkered history so far in NFL uniform re-designs, while Carolina and Minnesota’s new looks had mostly favourable reviews, those two are quickly forgotten by the absolute trainwrecks in North Florida — Jacksonville and Tampa Bay. Nike’s other two big re-designs in Seattle and Miami seem to be right down the middle with fans, some love it, some hate it.
