Congratulations to the UConn Huskies on taking home their fourth National Championship title last night against the Kentucky Wildcats, who were turned away in their bid for title number 9.
After a team wins a championship we here at SportsLogos.Net like to show you what could have been, the merchandise that was produced and ready to be shipped *if* the other team won it all instead. We like to call this “Phantom Champions” merchandise.
So here it is, what you would’ve seen fans from all over Kentucky wearing for the next 12 months had the Wildcats won the game last night instead of UConn:
“Locker Room” Cap and T-shirt. These two items above are what the Wildcats players would have been wearing on the court following the game as they celebrated and cut down those nets. Both the Wildcats and Huskies t-shirts read “Lone Star Statement”, the saying had nothing to do with the schools but rather that the game was played in Texas.
The rest of the merchandise shown below would have been produced for fans and collectors:
There was also a special logo produced to celebrate Kentucky’s championship, had they won it of course, you can see that here:
Enjoyed seeing this “phantom champions” merchandise? Well, check out our whole collection of it dating back to 2011 and covering every major North American sport… you can see it all here
