Major League Soccer is coming to Atlanta!
SportsLogos.Net has obtained a special invitation which was emailed out to a approximately two-hundred VIPs to attend “a major announcement” to be held on Wednesday, April 16th.
The invitation shows the MLS logo as well as an “Atlanta 2017” wordmark. MLS Commissioner Don Garber as well as Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, who is expected to own this new franchise, are listed as the hosts of this party.
According to our source the red, gold, and white colours shown on the invitation will reflect the colour scheme the team intends on using once the franchise is officially announced. It is the same colour scheme previously (and famously, might I add) used by the Atlanta Hawks basketball team.
Atlanta has had several professional soccer clubs over the years playing host to the Atlanta Chiefs and Atlanta Apollos of the original NASL, the Atlanta Beat of both WUSA and WPS women’s leagues. The Atlanta Silverbacks are the active Atlanta team and currently competing in the re-launched NASL.
